Today Microsoft have announced three new features coming in April that will improve the Teams Meeting experience for all users. These features begin rolling out in mid-April and will automatically be available to all users.
Background effects in Teams meetings
Rolling out from mid-April and published under Roadmap ID 62890, this feature will enable users to select from a selection of Microsoft-provided background images prior to or during a video call.
New experience for launching instant channel meetings
From late-April users will see the Mean Now button in the Channel header in the top-right corner. This is published under Roadmap ID 62904.
Improved Teams meeting join launcher experience
Starting in late-April, when launching a Teams meeting from a link, users will be provided with clearer options for how they would like to join the meeting. This will provides a more intuitive experience for external users joining meetings. Published under Roadmap ID 62905.
What do I need to do?
These new features are all released automatically as part of Microsoft’s evergreen strategy so no action is required. However, if you have internal documentation for the user of Teams within your organisation you may wish to update this once these features are released.
